Saxon Math 5/4 (3Ed) Homeschool Kit

Saxon Math 5/4 is designed for students in Grade 4, or Grade 5 students who are struggling with math.

Focusing on algebraic reasoning and geometric concepts, Saxon Math Homeschool 5/4 teaches math with a spiral approach, which emphasizes incremental development of new material and continuous review of previously taught concepts.

Following Saxon Math 3, the Saxon 5/4 changes to a textbook format that moves the student to work more independently. This new format of Saxon Math includes lessons that are made up of five instructional components:

1. Warm up Activities (including Facts Practice, Mental Math, and Problem Solving
2. Daily Lesson (introduction of the new concept)
3. Lesson Practice (practice of new skill, review of old skill, mixed problem practices)
4. Cumulative Practice
5. Cumulative Tests

In-depth "Investigations" are provided every 10 lessons, and have their own set of questions. Math 5/4 also includes 8 in-lesson activities and 5 investigation activities.

The Saxon Math Homeschool Kit includes the Student Text, the Tests and Worksheets book, and the Solutions Manual.

The Student Textbook covers concepts such as: numeration; numerical operations; measurement and geometry; patterns; relationships; math functions; data manipulation; add three-digit numbers; subtract numbers with re-grouping; read time; write numbers; estimate arithmetic answers; divide with two-digit numbers; multiply three or more factors; simplify fractions; use a decimal number line, and more.

The Tests and Worksheets book provides a Facts Practice Test for each lesson, as well as a test covering every 5-10 lessons. Investigations are also included. Extra/replacement Tests and Worksheets booklet can be ordered separately.

The Solutions Manual provides answers for all problems in the lesson (including Warm-up, Lesson Practice, and Mixed Practice exercises), as well as solutions for the Supplemental Practice found in the back of the student text. It also includes answers for the Facts Practice Tests, Activity Sheets, and Tests found in the separate Tests and Worksheets book.
