English 9 DVD with Books

English 9 consists of one semester of Writing & Grammar 9 and one semester of Fundamentals of Literature.

Writing & Grammar 9 emphasizes grammar skills, beginning with sentence patterns and going on to the eight parts of speech, phrases, and clauses. It reviews spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. Students practice these skills by completing several writing assignments, including definition, comparison and contrast, personal experience, research essay, poetry, personal response to literature, devotional, and letter writing.

Scheduling Information: 91 Days (79 video + 12 non-video days); lessons are 30 minutes in length.

Fundamentals of Literature (2nd edition) teaches the student literary analysis by discussing six literary elements: conflict, character, theme, point of view, structure, and tone. The student analyzes and evaluates authors, works, and themes in light of Scripture. The book includes an English translation of Rostand’s drama Cyrano de Bergerac.
