Man Without a Country, The - Level 2

Bring the Classics to Life - Reading Comprehension Worktext Series: Finding good reading material at a reading level that suits struggling learners is an ongoing difficulty. These students want to read something more exciting than small children’s books but may have limited vocabulary or comprehension The following workbook classics do this nicely. Generally we don’t favour using abridged novels as we like our students to read the “real thing”. However, in this case, having the basis of a classic to start from opens a whole new world to our reluctant readers. These classic novels have been adapted into 10 short chapters each in a worktext format. Multiple choice questions require students to recall specific details, sequence the events, draw inferences from the story context, and more. Improves fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. These may just fill a gap in your program.. Each worktext includes 100 comprehension questions that test for main idea, critical thinking, inference, recalling details and sequencing. - as well as 60 vocabulary exercises in modified Cloze format. - defines and uses in context new vocabulary, prior to each chapter. - includes complete answer keys for comprehension and vocabulary exercises. - Contains 72 pages with exciting illustrations.

NOTE: These are generally regarded as remedial study guides. They are high interest/low vocab to spark interest in older students who struggle in language arts.  Level 1 would appear to be a Gr.2-3 reading level. After that each level gets a little harder. By Level 5 it would seem to be about a Gr.7-8 reading level. These are appropriate for high school students who struggle in language arts. Also, activity pages are reproducible for your own family or a single classroom.
