Hound of the Baskervilles - Study Guide

The Study Guide

We have sold Bible based literature study guides from Progeny Press for a number of years and have been very pleased with them. Progeny Press Study Guides are used in conjunction with age appropriate novels to explore literature from a sound Biblical perspective. These study guides deal with literature as works of art and philosophy, explain and use literary terms, and deal with plot construction. They dig into why the characters act, believe, and feel as they do and examine what the Bible says in similar circumstances. Easy-to-use lessons include vocabulary exercises, comprehension and analysis, critical thinking, questions on related Biblical principles, activities, plus a complete answer key. Story Summary

Sir Charles Baskerville, squire of the ancient Baskerville estate in West England, has died under mysterious circumstances and his friend, Dr. Mortimer, fears that his death is connected to an old family legend about a giant, demonic Hound said to haunt the Baskervilles as judgement for the sins of an ancient ancestor. Fearing now for the safety of Sir Henry Baskerville, the young man who has inherited the Baskerville title, the ancestral home, and the great family fortune, Dr. Mortimer appeals to the famous detective, Sherlock Holmes.

Holmes sends his associate, Dr. Watson, to keep Sir Henry safe at Baskerville Hall, where, on the vast and bleak moor surrounding Baskerville Hall, Watson finds himself entangled in an intricate web of secrets and terror. Rationalism is pitted against the supernatural, and good against evil, as Sherlock Holmes strives to solve the mystery and save Sir Henry.
